About the Poster: Jeremiah's Chicago Story

The illustration on the poster was drawn by Jeremiah, a member of La Rabida Children's Hospital Chicago Child Trauma Center's Youth Advisory Board. Over Labor Day weekend last year, Jeremiah was playing with friends in his neighborhood and drinking from a neighbor's garden hose. A man in a neighboring house shot six times in the direction of the children, the fifth shot striking Jeremiah. As part of his healing from this incident, Jeremiah created a trauma narrative in words and pictures. The image on the poster was created as part of his trauma narrative. Below is Jeremiah's complete drawing and two others he drew as part of the narrative. We are grateful to Jeremiah for sharing his Chicago story of overcoming the impact of urban violence.
